A side from movies to special reboot ova's it's been like 6 years since a real new Gundam series was made. excluding the Gundam build show's
wasnt the last gundam that we had was ibo? thats pretty long time indeed..
Indeed. The last Gundam shows were both Gundam IBO S2 and ReUnicorn in 2016. after that they had 2 to 3 movies and specials which was Gundam Origins which is a reboot of OG Gundam series from 2018 (I think) and up to 2019 (still I think) 2018 was the Gundam Thunderbolt movie. Gundam Heartfelt movie which is a Netflix exclusive movie around 2020. Also if you exclude the Gundam Build Fighters and Build Divders shows there hasn't really been a new Gundam series until now.
Wasn't there like an orphan one as well?
Oh I forgot that one and yes.
ibo was so fucking good. Hoping this lives up to it.
This episode 1 is more fucking good it got me hooked on watching this gundam
Origins was NOT a reboot. It is a prequel series to the OG Gundam. Its and Hathaway are basically bookends to what currently known of the UC timeline. UC is amazing, but definitely a lot for a new watcher. This is the first new timeline since IBO.
Thx for the heads up and I only watch few Gundam anime which my first ever series was Gundam Wing.
So I'm not really fully knowledgeable on this.
my fav was gundam 00 with the special engine upgrade.
mobile suits equipped with pseudo-GN Drives.
That one is a good one ^^
Eh. The synopsis doesn't really move me, but I'll give it a try.
lesbo powa beats all lol
Coughs* Gundam hawthorn movies 1 and 2. 3rd in the works.
Thx for correcting me.
Is this the same Gundam from the series because it looks like it
Always been a sucker for Gundam.
Let’s see how good this one is
I watched this episode 4x LOVED the way it dismantled itself for multi slaughter mode* she's got everyone attention now. Steal her phone become a demi god
Gundam always handles sound and music so well. How it cutout a split second before the (nothin personnel kid), then shred the guys, lol.
Oh she’s an absolute badass pilot. If those work in a similar way like they worked in a series like SEED (where we see multiple gundams use this type of weaponry) she’s incredibly good.
Or… her mom is an absolute beast at making gundams.
To be fair, it is sentient
Studio Sunrise: what if we had a yuri Gundam?
Anime fans: you sonava-bitch im in!
Aren't they both woman how is that gonna work where's the guy mc what happened to him the guy the og using the mobile suit Gundam
Lol.
Personally, a fan of more traditional Gundam series (which most are to be fair) but times change and Gundam does have to somewhat fit the more modern taste.
School life Gundam seems like a way to do it but who know whether war is gonna break out and people start murdering each other and all this other stuff. Already was that attempted assassination.
You know that school getting blown up, this is Gundam my man.
Don't forget to watch the prologue for this, it came out a few months ago and it's sooo good.
Yea watched the prologue and read the thingy as well
Wow, detailed CGI graphics in the 1st minute, i feel love!
Episode 1 animation looks so expensive it looks like it came out from a movie
My body is ready. Been playing Gundam SD and watching the remastered version of origin it was great. Between origin, iron blood, and Witch. I don't know which is better. But the graphics on that Gundam in Witch is Chefs kiss 🔥 🧑🍳👌
Imagine trying to defeat a Gundam with a mass produced mobile suit lol. Oh dam. Did FMC just Netori the guy? Lmao. Let's goooo. Let's hope this Gundam copies Gen urobutcho kill em all tomino's formula.
Kill em all? What you don't want a whiny kid to lecture you on not killing?
Nah I wanna commit mass genocide against a space colony and follow it up by dropping a huge colony explosion that would wipe out 1/3 of the world's population.
well up till now they where mainly focused on there Idol shows rather than the Gundam IP im happy we finally get a new Gundam series as Iron Blooded Orphans was last Gundam TV show that i watched and it was very meh that i dropped after a few ep
Well technically we did have iron blooded orphans, which aired in 2015.
"it's been ages it feels" does not literally mean ages ._." and I watched iron blood orphans, it's almost a decade old now.
New timeline. Mercury = industrial period but with gundams.
Never in a million years would I have thought that this series would go for the high school life, yuri bait route from watching the PV...
Am I a dumbass for preferring the war-politics storyline set up by the prologue? That anime set up a very different world for this story and I really wasn't expecting a yuri highschool anime.
I mean this is my first Gundam anime and I really want to fall in love with this series --- but the only yuri manga I've ever liked was Bloom into You. Unless we get the same level of storytelling and character work in this anime, I think I prefer the prologue's themes.
Is that a dumb take? I'm genuinely curious because I'm wondering if I'm just missing something. Right now all I'm hoping for is that the next episode focuses much more on the war-politics side of things, because that's what I was looking for...
It's a main Gundam show, the political warfare is always the main plot eventually, unless this one is TOTALLY different, which would kill it in the egg, expect the political warfare and dark plot to be back soon
Fingers crossed. I'm giving this 3 Episodes.
Wanna get into Gundam? I highly recommend Iron Blooded Orphans. And if you just want a great story with mechs. Get on Code Geass.
Gundam series are usually space operas. I'd recommend Gundam Seed but honestly, the story and characters were all over the place. And according to veteran gundam fans (32 years old+) it's actually ass.
I'm about 10 episodes into Code Geass. It's okay so far, but still hasn't really hooked me.
Is Iron Blooded Orphans Universal Century?
No, IBO is a separate timeline from the original UC timeline. Not my favorite, but definitely a good representation of Gundam. For UC timeline, 08th MS is a nice one (Gundam Vietnam) but its old 90s animation. Unicorn is a nice contained story in UC as well, with modern digital animation. (Plenty of references and characters from older UC shows, that will make it better to rewatch after you sink your teeth into the UC timeline, but not required to enjoy Unicorn.).
What's UC?
I really dislike Seed because I could not stand Kira's drama. Turn-a-Gundam is my favorite, alongside G Gundam. Damn, G Gundam was legit; I gotta rewatch it now that I've brought it up. I can't recommend G Gundam enough actually. Just go into it expecting fun and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It's a wild ride.
If you're looking for a better first gundam, I'ma recommend 00. It has AAALLLlll of the war/politics stuff.
The ending is ass though. If you can deal with 90s era animation, 08th MS Team is the way to go. Nice contained story, and a dip into the UC timeline. I love SEED/SEED Destiny, but probably a bit too divisive for a first time watcher. I think ORGINS is a nice starter too, UC timeline, modern animation. Tells the story of the "Bad Guys" perspective.
Nah, the ending's good. 90s animation can be good (Wing) but it could also be ass (Turn-A, at least at the start, which is why I've yet to actually watch it). I also liked Seed/Destiny, but it's been years since I saw it. I know some of the fanbase calls it a rip-off of the original, but idk how true that is.
Just from the glimpses of the politics in the first episode it's safe to say the high school is just the setting used to introduce all the principal cast to each other
Good to see Gundam back. It's been ages it feels..
